Lateral Ankle Sprain

Lateral Ankle Sprain

Overview

A lateral ankle sprain affects the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, most often after the foot rolls inward. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising and reduced confidence or stability during weight-bearing.

How the Ankle Balance Board Can Support Your Training

The Ankle Balance Board is designed to help you practice controlled foot and ankle movement, improving balance and progressively strengthening the muscles that help stabilize the outer ankle.

Your Pathway

Your Training Path

Start with the mobility exercises, then build through the strength exercises in the order shown. This is a progression—not a one-session checklist. Quality and control come before difficulty.

How to Progress Through This Pathway

START HERE

M2 Foot Pronation. When M2 meets the four progression checks, add M6 Ankle Dorsiflexion.

THEN BUILD STRENGTH

S1 → S2 → S3 → S4. Add one new strength level at a time. Do not jump ahead because a later exercise looks more challenging or more useful.

KEEP IN YOUR ROUTINE

Earlier mobility work may remain as preparation while you begin the next strength level.

READY TO MOVE ON?

Progress only when all four checks are positive: Control + Comfort + Completion + Next-Day Check.

Optional Extra Challenge

Advanced Board Configurations

Once you can perform the exercises in this pathway with good control, you can explore these optional board configurations for an extra balance and stability challenge. These configurations change the board setup; they do not replace the exercise instructions.
